Our History

Helping you to focus on what you do best

BFS has over 40 years heritage in providing high quality estates, facilities, procurement services and outpatient pharmaceutical services to the healthcare sector, we became a BFS team in 2012 (having formally traded as BHSS Ltd), and operate as a wholly owned subsidiary to Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

At the same time, we have seen our business grow to circa £55m turnover and the team size more than doubling to over 490 colleagues.  Over the last 3 financial years, BFS has donated a total of £2.5m, supporting front line patient services (including Barnsley Hospice).

    LAUNCH OF BFS DECONTAMINATION SERVICES - SUCCESSFULLY GAINED CONTRACT AND TRANSFERRED 180 STAFF

    LAUNCH OF BFS DOMESTIC SERVICES - SUCCESSFULLY GAINED CONTRACT AND TRANSFERRED 200+ STAFF

    BFS DEVELOPED AND MANAGED THE SUCCESSFUL OPENING OF THE BARNSLEY HOSPTIAL NEONATAL UNIT

    BFS LAUNCH NATIONALLY RECOGNISED OXYGEN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM UNDER COVID-19

    BFS DEVELOPED AND MANAGED THE SUCCESSFUL NEW BUILD OF THE BARNSLEY HOSPTIAL CHILDRENS EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

Our ambition

Our next step remains focussed on continuing to drive up the value of our contribution to the NHS – through innovating, maintaining high quality, expanding the breadth of services offered and targeting sales in new markets. We explain a little more here [insert link], in our vision and values.

2020-2025 will see BFS continuing to invest in our team, systems and processes – we fundamentally believe in empowering and sustaining a motivated workforce – and are proud to be a team that does the right thing, not just anything, so our focus will remain in and around the services we know best.
